UFRJ campus to host international innovation competition

    Rio de Janeiro will this year host Smart Living Challenge 2015. Destined to students, professors and young professionals, Smart Living Challenge is an international innovation competition to generate business opportunities and idead that promote a sustainable lifestyle in urban environments. Everyone with a smart idea to improve quality of life in their city, in a sustainable way, can apply. The open call will be between May 11 and 31. Organized by the Swedish Embassy in Brazil, the challenge will be a partnership with UFRJ’s Fundo Verde (www.fundoverde.ufrj.br) and conducted by Hysper Island (www.hyperisland.com). The project for 2015 will have the UFRJ University City as the location for the pilot project. Chosen candidates will compose the group of five to seven people that will develop the project with MOVE (smart mobility in cities) as a theme and will have the privilege of having it presente at COP21, which will take place in December, in Paris.

    The criteria for participation are: having dominion of the English language, writing a 15-line paragraph illustrating why you’d participate in the Smart Living Challenge 2015 and sending a suggestion of a smart project connected to the theme “MOVE”, which can be developed by the group. It will be taken under consideration motivation to participate in the project and the project’s tangibility (applicability in the UFRJ University City). Interested parties can send their proposals via email.

    Candidates chosen to compose the group developing the project will be announced in the kickoff ceremony of Smart Living Challenge 2015, June 9, at the UFRJ Technology Park Auditorium, at 10 AM.
