The Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Fotovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR) have signed this week a Technical Cooperation Agreement which promises to boost the sector, attracting more foreign investments to Brazil. Together, the two institutions will work to promote the segment in Brazil for the main international investors, located in the US, Europe and Asia.
The idea is, once the agreement is set, to intensify actions gather data to generate strategic information for the sector and country. “The partnership is importante because we need the private sector to develop in Brazil actions and strategies which the country needs to become even more attractive, Direct foein investment is key not only to develop the solar energy chain as well as to diversify the energy matrix”, states David Barioni Neto, president of Apex-Brasil.
At the moment, there are several foreign companies interested in investing in Brazil being assisted by Apex-Brasil. This year, China’s largest solar panel manufacturer, BYD, announced that, with the help of the agency, it would be investing R$ 150 million to install their first plant of its kind, in São Paulo.
