Shell will begin in the next few days a new exploration phase at Parque das Conchas, in the Campos basin, in a stage that will give new flow to the BC-10 field and should increase its production by up to 27.000 barrels per day. The information was announced this Tuesday (08/03) by the company’s president in Brazil, André Araújo, who participated in the opening of the 2016 UK Energy, and stated again the company’s plans to expand their investments in the Brazilian market.

In total, the planning predicts the drilling to eight new wells in the region, which should have its first oil production in the next few days. Drilling has begun in the field, which is operated by Shell in a 50% share, in consortium with ONGC (27%) and QPI (23%). This is the third exploration phase in the area.

The announcement follows the line adopted by the Anglo-Dutch oil company. In a visit to the country this month, the company’s global president, Ben van Beurden, stated that the company intends to expand its investment in Brazil, in spite of cuts being consolidated in its international operations. Today, Shell advances in its sales plan for its assets of over US$ 30 billion, approved along with 10.000 layoffs in its global activities.
