Rio de Janeiro ranks second in foreign trade participation

    Rio de Janeiro finished 2014 as the second-ranked state in foreign trade participation in Brazil, mainiating a positive commercial balance. That was the conclusion of the Rio State Foreign Trade Diagnosis, put together by the Internatonal Business Center of the FIRJAN System, was releases this past Thursday (06/08). The study, conducted every two years, has the objective of profiling Rio state companies acting in foreign trade and displaying which are the internal and external roadblocks faced by businesses to import and export their products.

    For this study, 328 companies from Rio state were surveyed, with the goal of getting to know their aprehensions, aspirations and needs. The objective is to contribute towards developing actions that improve the business environment for thet state’s foreign trade and collaborate towards the globalization of Rio state companies.

    Firjan vice-president, Carlos Mariani Bitencourt, delivered a letter with the main proposals of entrepreneurs surveyed to the Foreign Trade secretary of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Daniel Godinho. “The improvement of proposals is key to better the business environment. Therefore, we hope for the implementation of the National Export Plan, recently released by the Federal government, to which we contributed heavily with the entrepreneurs view”, said Mariani.

    The Foreign Trade secretary of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Daniel Godinho, pointed out the importance of exports in the country’s current economic situation. “Foreign trade will be one of the main themes in Brazil for the next few years. To facilitate work for companies, we will implement until the end of the year a series of measures which will make the process quicker and less bureaucratic”, guaranteed the secretary.
