Singularity Executives visit Rio
California university studies opportunities for projects in the City
Rio Negócios identified the higher education sector as a strategic one for Rio de Janeiro. With this objective, the agency participated in the inward investment process of two of the world´s top universities: Columbia, from New York, and Swiss business school, IMD.
Between September 17-19, the agency executives will be with representatives from another reference in the university sector: Singularity University. The university from California, founded in 2008, is located inside the NASA campus in the Silicon Valley and is focused in creating a generation of leaders that use technology as a solution for humanity´s greatest challenges.
On the agenda are, along with meetings with the Rio Negocios´executives, visits to the City Operations Center, universities (IME and IMPA) and incubators (UFRJ and PUC), the companies IBM, EBX and GE and the accelerators 21212 and Papaya Ventures.
Rio is currently one of the largest research centers in Latin America which attracts attention from international universities. Headquarters of 20% of the country´s top institutions (UFRJ, IMPA, COPPE, IME, PUC, FGV, IBMEC, UERJ, among others), the City has 128 undergraduate courses with maximum grades given by the Ministry of Education (MEC) in engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, IT and Business. There are also 27 graduate courses, in the same disciplines, with the highest grades given by CAPES.
