GE installs healthcare management software for Rio 2016 Games

    GE, global sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, has made an agreement with the IOC to supply a healthcare management software for the entire medical support structure of the event, including the polyclinic, which will tend to athletes from all over the world.

    According to Daurio Speranzini Júnior, president and CEO of GE Healthcare for Latin America, the technology, called Centricity Practice Solution, was developed initially for the US Olympic Committee.

    The software, which charts digitally all medical interactions with the athletes, will feature a portuguese version, meeting Brazilian health requirements, as well as featuring content and applications in English. “More than just a digital chart, this solution enables to condense all healthcare information in the same cloud-based platform and also analyze, making an evolving evaluation of the athletes physical condition possible, even for future Games”, said Speranzini.

    The impact of major events in sponsors’ strategies will be part of the debates during the Business of Sport conference at Casa Rio, the most extensive business development program in the country, on July 25. The event will gather sponsors, broadcasters of major global sporting events, sports marketing agencies, government authorities and international sports development institutions.
