The Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep) will have R$ 4 billion of refundable resources (credit) at their disposal to finance innovation projects from Brazilian companies in 2016. The large figure in the midst of cuts in federal budget was possible  due to a joint operation between the Ministries of Treasury and Science, Technology and Innovation, as well as BNDES, within the Investment Sustaining Program (PSI).

Focused on subsidized criedit for businesses, PSI was created in 2009 with the objective of stimulating production, acquisition and exporting of goods and technological innovation. The program is operated through loans from BNDES and has, since 2011, started being used as well by Finep, responsible for financing business plans of innovation.
