The government’s decision to simplify new venture licensing for the electricity sector was reaffirmed by the minister of Mines and Energy, Eduardo Braga, during the 5th edition of Brazil Windpower, in Rio de Janeiro. “We want to establish a fast track for licensings, so they can be improved and Brazil has effective efficiency in its licensings, and that way we can mitigate our system’s regulatory risk”, stated the minister during its presentation.

Braga guaranteed that the need for the fast track is a measure to lower regulatory risk and, by consequence, risk pricing. He further assured that no license – environmental, historical landmark and agrarian regularization – will be jeopardized, but that the licensing process will be articulated, with more agility and dialogue.
