Casa Rio Business Center gathers members of the Logistics sector
The project for the Strategic Logistics and Cargo Plan for Rio de Janeiro state (PELC-RJ) and its investment opportunities through concessions and public-private partnerships were presented at a seminar today, promoted by Casa Rio in its Business center, at the Rio de Janeiro Commercial Association (ACRio). The event gathered representatives from the port of Houston, the port of Itaguaí, the state government, as well as investors and executives from infrastructure and logistics companies. The goal was the development of business focused on expanding and sophisticating the road, rail and airport transport system, benefitting thus the local and national supply chain.
“Rio de Janeiro has an under utilized logistical potential. For example, the Galeão international airport has privileged location and an enormous capacity to transport cargo, but due to sharing regional air traffic with Santos Dumont, it still hasn’t become the hub that it’s meant to be. We are working to change that with Anac”, said Eduardo Duprat, superintendent of Logistics and Cargo at the State Transportation Secretariat.
Other projects presented by Duprat were the qualification of roads in the southern part of the state, in order to create a logistical connection with the agricultural production and technological development hubs in south Minas Gerais; the creation and consolidation of 15 logistical platforms throughout Rio state to rationalize the distribution of cargo; and the International Logistical Services Zone, an ACRio project to develop integration projects among the 250 municipalities which would form the Rio-São Paulo megalopolis.
The event also had presentations on the operations of the Itaguaí and Houston ports, as well as companies such as Vale, CSN, e da Sepetiba Tecon.
