Brazil’s participation in South by Southwest festival generates USD 18,9 million

    The largest global creative industry festival, South by Southwest has brought good results for Brazilian startups and companies in its 2015 edition, which ended on March 23, in Austin, Texas. Brazil’s participation generated USD 18,9 million in business. The amount surpassed the initial estimate of USD 7 million and the amount generated last year, when Brazilian participation raised USD 5 million in exports.

    According to Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency), which organizes the presence of Brazilian companies in the festival, 28 companies participating in stands and business rounds in the Trade Show generated USD 7,97 million in investments. When it came to startups, 11 Brazilian startups generated USD 6,8 million to structure their businesses. In all, 57 Brazilian companies presented at the event.

    In the space named Casa Brasil, festival-goers could watch seminars, workshops, shows, films and Brazilian games in exhibition, as well as having a dedicated space within for networking.
