A school shooting in Rio de Janeiro killed at least 13 people and injured another 22 after a former student targeted children in classrooms this morning.

Wellington Menezes de Oliveira, who said he was going to give a lecture at the school, used two revolvers to carry out the attack, Colonel Djalma Beltrame of Rio’s 14th police battalion said on Globo TV.

“It was a premeditated act,” Beltrame said. “He was clearly a hallucinating person.”

The killer shot himself after police officers who were near the school found him leaving a classroom and heading to another, Beltrame said.
